Fridge Freezer RepairsWith Fridge/Freezers there's just a little bit more to consider, so let's start again, first of all:- Does your Fridge/Freezer have the following symptoms? " When the Fridge/Freezer is plugged in, the internal light comes on in the fridge compartment (when the door is open), but there is no sound at all coming from the Fridge/Freezer." If so, then please consider the following questions:- (1) Is your Fridge/Freezer the type that cools the fridge compartment by means of a 'cooling-panel'? This flat 'cooling-panel' is positioned behind the fridge shelves, on the inside back wall of the fridge. If 'Yes', this is likely to be the right thermostat. Please read the next two questions. Sometimes the panel is a white metal plate, but with the more modern fridge/freezers, the panel is concealed, and all you will see is the flat, plastic, inside back wall of the fridge. When the fridge is working properly, this cooling-panel gets cold and cools the fridge compartment.
(2) Is your Fridge/Freezer completely quiet, ie with no sound at all coming from it? If 'Yes', then the thermostat is very likely to be the cause of the fault. Please read the next question. A good way to be sure there are no sounds, is to turn the Fridge/Freezer off at the plug socket for about half an hour. When you turn it on again, place your ear tight against the cabinet of the Fridge/Freezer, and listen carefully. If you can hear any sound coming from the Fridge/Freezer such as low level 'humming noises' or 'clicking', then the thermostat isn't the cause of the above fault. (3) Is the room where your Fridge/Freezer is positioned, at normal room temperature? If 'Yes', and the other two questions above are also 'Yes', then it's very likely that the thermostat is faulty, and needs replacing. If the Fridge/ Freezer is situated somewhere like a garage, shed, out-house or un-heated part of your house, during cold weather spells, the thermostat, which is monitoring the Fridge Compartment temperature, doesn't turn 'on' long enough or often enough to keep the Freezer Compartment cold. -------------------------------------------------- If you have answered 'Yes' to the three questions above, then it is very likely that this thermostat will mend your fault. The next thing to do is have a look at the list (below) of various makes, and read the general notes about your particular make. Please Note This information on the various makes is only valid if you have answered 'Yes' to the three questions above AEG : Many models use this thermostat but if your Fridge/Freezer has a LED temperature display, then it will be controlled by a PCB instead, and this thermostat won't be the right one. If you are not sure, try 'prising off' the temperature control dial in the fridge. If the spindle is made of metal, then this is the right thermostat. If it is made of plastic, then this isn't the right thermostat. Ariston : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Bauknecht : Most of these use a diiferent thermostat, and you will need the right one. We supply these as well, but you will need to contact us first . They are more expensive, and some are a bit trickier to fit. . Beko : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. With Beko makes, take extra care to check whether you can hear any faint humming sounds. If you can, then the thermostat won't be the cause of the fault. Blomberg : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. To make sure, try 'prising off' the temperature control dial in the fridge. If the spindle is made of metal, then this is the right thermostat. If it is made of plastic, then it means that your Blomberg model is controlled by a PCB module rather than a mechanical thermostat. The following models BC272NFS, GN1951FF or BC272NF, are controlled by a PCB module, but can still be repaired economically. Please contact us if you are having problems with one of these. Bosch : Most of these are controlled by a PCB instead. This is not likely to be the thermostat that you need. Brandt : Most of these are controlled by a PCB instead. This is not likely to be the thermostat that you need. If you are having a problem with any of the following Brandt models, please contact us, we will probably be able to help, 50323B012, CFB200WU, CFB200WV, CO20FWLU, CO27FWLU, CO27GWLU. . Candy : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. To make sure, try 'prising off' the temperature control dial in the fridge. If the spindle is made of metal, then this is the right thermostat. If it is made of plastic, then this isn't the right thermostat. Creda : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Electra : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Electrolux : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Frigidaire : If the temperature control dial is positioned above the door, please email me. If the control dial is positioned on the inside wall of the fridge, then it is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Hitachi : If the temperature control dial is positioned above the door, please contact us. If the control dial is positioned on the inside wall of the fridge, then it is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Hoover : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. To make sure, try 'prising off' the temperature control dial in the fridge. If the spindle is made of metal, then this is the right thermostat. If it is made of plastic, then this isn't the right thermostat. . Hotpoint : If the temperature control dial is positioned above the door, please contact us. If the control dial is positioned on the inside wall of the fridge, then it is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Ignis : Most of these use a diiferent thermostat, and you will need the right one. We supply these as well, but you will need to contact us first . They are more expensive, and some are a bit trickier to fit. Lec : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. You will need to make use of the new dial provided, otherwise, if you use the original dial, you will find that the numbers won't line up. If your Lec has a concealed dial (above the door of the fridge), you will need to ignore the numbers once this new thermostat has been fitted. LG : Most of these are controlled by a PCB instead. This is not likely to be the thermostat that you need. Neff : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Philips : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Scandinova : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Servis : Most of these are controlled by a PCB instead. This is not likely to be the thermostat that you need. Siemens : Most of these are controlled by a PCB instead. This is not likely to be the thermostat that you need. Tricity Bendix : It is very likely that this is the thermostat that you need. Whirlpool : Most of these use a diiferent thermostat, and you will need the right one. We supply these as well, but you will need to contact us first . They are more expensive, and some are a bit trickier to fit. If you are having a problem with either of the following Whirlpool models, please contact us, we will probably be able to help, AFB125 orAFB126H.
