Miele Electronic Freezer getting Too Cold.

Fridge Running Continuously

Sometimes when a fridge is running continuously, it can be caused by the fridge not being able to reach the 'cut-out' temperature of the thermostat. The fridge only goes into the defrost cycle (goes quiet) when the 'cut-out' temperature of the cooling plate (the evaporator) is reached.

If it's running continuously, and food items (even on the higher shelves) are freezing up, then it is likely to be due to a 'sticky' thermostat. In this case, replacing the thermostat will sort out the problem.

But, if only the food in the salad tray area (i.e.at the bottom of the fridge) is freezing , or, if no items are freezing at all, then it's more likely to be due to one of these:-
1) low refrigerant gas pressure
2) a partial blockage in the refrigerant circuit
3) a weak compressor.
To find out which of these is causing the problem, you would need to get an engineer to call.

Pool of water settling in the bottom of my fridge.

This is usually caused by the evaporate outlet being blocked. Most 'operators manuals' will tell you to regularly check the outlet. If you take the shelves out of your fridge, you will see a channel which is designed to collect the water which drips down from the back wall. The hole that the water goes down will most likely be blocked. You just need to use something like a 'cotton bud' to remove anything that is causing the blockage.

How to defrost a freezer.

This is what I do when Defrosting a Freezer.

You'll have the Freezer up and running again in

less than 15 minutes,

(even your ice cubes won't melt in that time!!).

You will need to use one can of Servisol 'Easy Thaw' for each defrost (for an average sized freezer).

'Easy Thaw' is used extensively by the trade, so don't be put off if you've used sprays
before that didn't do the job very well. This knocks spots of those!

This product is virtually odourless, and there is no chance of it tainting any of the food contents.

One other benefit - it's excellent for use on frozen car door locks.

Here's my instructions for use.

  1. Turn the fridge/freezer off.
  2. Take out the food and remove the drawers etc.
  3. Spray Servisol 'Easy Thaw' direct onto the areas of ice buid-up.
  4. Use the whole can (for an average freezer).
  5. Get a hair-dryer and turn it on to heat.
  6. Aim the hair dryer at the ice at the front/top of the freezer first, working towards the back.
  7. Let the melted ice drip onto the shelves below. There's no need to scrape or chip away at the ice.
  8. Within less than ten minutes all the ice should be gone (depending on how long it is since it was last defrosted!).
  9. Dry the inside of the freezer with a towel.
  10. Turn the Freezer back on.
  11. Put a reminder on your calendar to do it again in six months time.
  12. Job done.

Get two (200ml) cans of 'Easy Thaw'

(which for the average freezer is a year's supply)

for just

£9.75 inc P&P.

I will even give you the following Guarantee.

BUY IT & TRY IT

If you don't agree that it's the best way to defrost your freezer,

Send the other can of 'Easy Thaw' back to us,

And you will get a FULL REFUND

(less our P&P costs of £1.85).

Miele Electronic Freezer getting Far Too Cold

Is it one of these two models?

 F7131 or F7132S

The above models have a common symptom when they are a few years old of getting way too cold (usually colder than -30 degrees C).

If your freezer is experiencing the above symptoms, please contact us, it will be an inexpensive DIY repair. Usually the part you need will cost £33.86 in total including P&P, and it is very simple to fit
